Diary of a Dancer
Images by Elinor Carucci
Commentary by Eliot Markell
Page two

The artist has used her dance and her self as a photographic subject, much as a painter would employ the self portrait. Her actual self portrait framed in the window of a car, portrays a luminous face floating like a full moon. Portraiture drives these photos in a non-narcissistic style. No one is beautiful or pretentious. The artist washing her feet strikes a saintly pose, while clueing the viewer that dedication to craft can be hard on the feet.
