Fish Rain

Susan H. Case

Showering onto Macedonia
tiny gefilte platitsa, bleak, roach.
Airborne scaly matter
as if briefly feathered. Swept
by rough circumstance and weather
from the surface of a nearby lake.

Like the drift dive at Fish Rain.
There it's illusion.
Move along the wall's slope
and they seem to pour down.
Mahi-mahi in strong current.
A rare pelagic in Molokai.

Last year it was a wet course
in Wiltshire.
Goldfish and carp sucked
from a garden pond,
strewn onto the fairway.
Four golfers seeking shelter.
